When an invoice counts as paid
When the bank says so: a matched bank line, or a payment you record by hand.
An invoice is paid when a bank line pays it — matched by its reference number or amount — on the date of that line. You can also record a payment by hand, for cash or for a payment the statement has not reached yet; when the statement arrives, the bank line takes its place.
An invoice paid in part shows what is still open. One past its due date is overdue, and the days late are counted from the due date.
- Overdue invoices come first in Invoices & bills, with how late each is.
- Receivables are aged 0–30, 31–60, 61–90 and over 90 days in Reports.
- An invoice over thirty days late becomes a critical item in What to do.
