Measured or estimated

Every figure says where it came from: read from your data, or worked out ahead of time.

A figure read from a bank line, an issued invoice or an approved payslip is measured. A figure Profflow works out ahead of time — next month’s balance, a tax not yet declared, the yearly effect of a cost that grew — is an estimate, and the screen labels it so.

The cash forecast uses only what is already known and dated: invoices on their due dates, bills, salaries on pay day, payroll taxes on the 10th and VAT on the 20th. It does not invent sales that have not been invoiced.

Payroll and tax rates that have not yet been checked by an accountant are marked on the screen, and the figures built on them are estimates until they are.
